EVGA GTX 1070 high temps. Please help!

alkhaza

Hello, Linus Tech Tips forum members. While gaming, my GPU gets 50℃+ while playing Grand Theft Auto V / RAGEMP (It's GTA 5 Multiplayer) and in other category games, for  example in "Grounded", it heats up to 74℃ on the low settings. When I first bought this PC, it was being 20-35℃ on idle, but now it's 40-50℃. Will my temperatures drop down a bit, if I change thermal paste/thermal pads and add two exhaust fans on top? (I currently have one) Thank you in advance, sorry for bad English.

P.S. You can see MSI Afterburner stats in the video.

Those temps all look fine and are within spec. I don't see an issue here.

High idle temps are common with GPUs that stop their fans at idle, I'd guess thats whats happening here.

You could dust that heatsink.

How are the fan speeds at idle and full load ? (in the video I see minimum rpm at idle)

Finally you could do some undervolting, but you probably don't need to.

I'm willing to swim against the current.

yes, could be just case dust,

either way 70C still sounds fine even if you calculate hotspot temps
