Advice On GPU Upgrade for Ryzen 5 5600X w/ COD Warzone

WarmEngine

Current PC Specs:

AMD Ryzen 5 5600x
MSI Gaming Plus Max B550

AMD Radeon RX580 8GB

Corsair CX650M (650w) PSU

16GB Crucial Ballistix 3600Mhz

My son just did a 180 on how he wants to spend his birthday money and has decided to upgrade his GPU.  I haven't shopped or followed the GPU market in about a year since I bought his brother one.  Any advice or recommendations for best price to performance that wouldn't require a new PSU?  Trying to stay around $300 since that's what he has BUT I'm open to pitching some money in should $50 or $100 make a big difference and increase longevity for him.   He's currently playing on a 1080p 120Hz and he may go to 1440p at Christmas but that's not for sure yet.  Here's what I've found on Best Buy so far since I have some rewards I could use towards it.  The 6800 and 7700XT recommend 700 or 750w PSU's so those are out.  Any thoughts on the list below or other options I haven't considered that I should?

Gigabyte NVIDIA RTX 3060 12GB $299.99

MSI RTX 3060 12GB OC $299.99

XFX Speedster Qick319 AMD Radeon RX 6750XT 12GB $329.99

XFX Speedster Qick319 AMD Radeon RX 7600XT 16GB $349.99

Gigabyte Radeon RX 7600XT OC 16GB $329.99

I would go with the Gigabyte Radeon RX 7600XT OC or the XFX Speedster Qick319 AMD Radeon RX 6750XT

The 6750XT is sliiiiiiiiiightly faster in most titles ( we are talking 1-4fps ) but the 16GB of VRAM on the 7600XT might come in handy with modern titles using a lot of VRAM lately.

The Gigabyte Radeon RX 7600XT OC is a very solid card.

I have used a Radeon 6750 in my machine for a while now and have no regrets at all.  It has handled everything I have attempted, (sorry not much though other than World of Warcraft).

Thanks.  Is it worth considering something slightly lower than these to save cost and also have something with less wattage that'd run cooler?  Or are the 7600 XT and 6750XT overkill for 1080p to where something lower makes more sense?

IE:  XFX Speedster SWFT309 Radeon RX 6700 10GB $279.99

It all comes down to how much you are willing to spend right?

The RX 6700 is still a darn good 1080p card but it is slower than the 7600 XT.

The 6700 is a 175w card and the 7600 XT is a 190w card so they are very equal in terms of power.

I dont think either are overkill for 1080p especially if your son is running a 120hz monitor.

''Overkill'' now means the card will last longer before you need a new GPU that can't do what you want.

Its up to you really, both cards are good 🙂

Thanks again.  If you had to choose between the 6700 at $269 (on sale from $299) or the 6750XT for $329 (on sale from $409) is it a toss-up between the two?  Basically would he and/or I regret not spending an extra $60?  It looks like it's a 20% increase in price for the 6750XT over the 6700.  If the 6700 is more than enough for his needs I'd lean towards that one BUT if it's one of those "man for $60 the increase in performance is significant and worth it"

Here is a video of the 6700 vs 6700 XT vs 6750XT.  In some titles the 6750 XT gains quite a bit of performance but usually its 12-20fps more on average.  This is done with the same CPU as you have so this is as close to what you can expect.

I would pay the extra 60 bucks but you can be the judge if 60 bucks is worth it or not.

The settings used in this comparison is ultra settings and most games are designed around high settings. Most games run much better on High over Ultra.
