First workstation build

Budget (including currency): 5000 USD

Country: New Delhi, India

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: PCB Design, Heavy scientific work

Other details: The only things I absolutely require are a RTX 4090 (or should I wait for the 5090?) and at least 4 PCIe x16 slots (the more the merrier). 64 GB or more RAM is preferred but I don't know if I should go for a DDR4 or DDR5 build.

Thanks.

Desktop processors do not have 64 PCIe lanes available for expansion slots.

Yes and the vast number of threads in this forum concern desktop systems.

4x16 pcie lanes isnt possible, but the motherboard has them, they either A wont work at all, or B will run at pcie 4 x8 but has 16 cores 32 threads 4tb of nvme and a 4090 fe, you could go xeon or threadripper, but the chances of you needing that litteraly ever are very very low, this is the best consumer platform system, and you dont need 5 grand unless you want 16tb of ssd

Thanks for the amazing list @BentleyOwen123.

I don't think I can use two GPUs in that motherboard since it has only one x16 slot.

I am thinking of going with a used Xeon to get a higher PCIe x16 slot count. What do you think?

yea its not a bad idea as long as you get a good deal, but i do think 2 3090s is better for ml and stuff like that right? 48gb of vram, and that motherboard has more than one? i specifically searched for ones with 3+

Only one of the x16 slots is actually x16.
