Opinion on my router/modem

SmileAsTheyDie

never liked all in ones mainly for personal preference and my Information Security classes. But looking at the specs it's a standard router, I'm a little surprised that you got 2.5 and 5Ghz with it but it's pretty standard. IDK if 3/5 eggs of 200 reviews should set off red flags, i'd imagine it would just be a lot of people pissy at their ISP for one reason or another.

Motorola tends to make some of the better cable modems in my experience, i would think it would perform just fine. Looks to be fairly high end.

Router/modems suck. I have to live with one. The speeds are pathetic. I get on average, 30kB/s down, 5kB/s up. Help.

Hello all, With my ISP i was given a "all in one" router/modem and i wanted to get opinions on how good it is compared to other routers: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16825122014

Motorola makes great cable modems in general. That particular one should perform quite well as a Modem, and mediocre/decent as a router.

I would recommend using that modem as just as a stand-alone modem, and get a separate router. I highly recommend the ASUS RT series routers (RT-AC66U for example). But there are plenty of good options to choose from, depending on budget, features desired, and so on. If you can't afford a separate router, then the Motorola modem will do for now.
