What do I upgrade next?

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Call of Duty, Helldivers 2, Halo, streaming with Streamlabs OBS, editing with premiere pro.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I currently have a system that works most of the time but I’m wanting to get more into the content creation side of things and it’s struggling to keep up.

cpu: ryzen 5 3600x

mobo: Mai Meg x570 ace

ram: 2x8 16gb 3200mhz kit

gpu: evga 2080ti

psu: thermaltake 650w

i have the cpu “turned up to 11” in the bios and regularly see 4+ ghz out of it, I have the gpa under locked as I bought it second hand and was told there’s no thermal pads on the vram because he had it in a water block (which he included) and I don’t want to fry it. It’s been stable like this for over a year.

while streaming helldivers 2 I run the game at sub 30fps. Call of duty I run 60-100fps. Both my cpu and ram are maxed according to task manager. What would be the sensible thing for me to upgrade next?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Anyways what's the budget?

2080ti's pretty good (I mean it literally is the fastest 20 series GPU), so I'd honestly just take a look at the CPU being utilized at 100% and RAM getting full kind of stuff

also,

is the block on or is it air right now? I'd only check how it compares to other 2080ti's with benchmark/game that uses rather GPU than CPU in it's test

Two relatively cheap upgrades are the CPU and GPU, obviously. Your X570 board should (note the emphasis!) support a 5700X CPU. That's 2 cores/4 threads more at better efficiency, easy win. For GPU, consider a 6800XT. Again, much more efficient and most likely higher FPS too.

I won't upgrade/add RAM, especially if you plan on a platform upgrade in the near future. Look at RAM utilisation during gameplay, if your system doesn't use all 32GB of it, more RAM won't do much except raising the price of the upgrade, which would actually be better spent on the platform upgrade 😛

look at the MB's design and heatsink for 2 seconds,

are you still unsure if the MB supports 5700x?

Ryzen 5700X, 5900X or 5800X3D.

And some GPU thermal pads.

Its on the factory air cooler with fresh paste and most of the thermal pads.
