Looking for good 1440p gaming monitor

Hi all,

 

My max budget is about $500.

 

Looking for a good 27-inch 240hz 1440p gaming monitor. Powered by a 7900xtx, so freesync would be cool.

 

Want low latency/input lag as possible.

 

This one was all i wanted spec wise. I just don't want a curved monitor.

Have you checked Hardware Unboxed and Monitors Unboxed?

 

What are you using now? If you're used to owning a 23,6"-25" 1080p screen, or if your eyesight isn't that great, a 32" 1440p has about the same pixel size as 24" 1080p meaning the pixels on a 27" 1440p are smaller which means you'd either have to adjust, sit closer to the screen or use scaling.

Currently on a S2719DGF for my main and a cheap 4k for a second. Would like to get a higher end as i went from a 1080ti that wasn't very capable at 1440p at a high fps to a radeon 7900xtx which can push those FPS.

Which CPU do you have?

 

In my opinion, based on my experience, going from 144Hz-165Hz to 240Hz is not a huge jump and I'd recommend that only to the competitive players playing fast-paced multiplayer shooters who already have a CPU that can feed a high-end GPU with enough frames for high refresh and who already have a great Internet connection (without bufferbloat) and good other peripherals (mouse, headphones, mousepad, keyboard).

I have an 7800x3d. Sounds like it is not worth it then. No competitve shooters here. Just i see doom eternal and killing floor 2  multiplayer all that pushing over 144fps. But from what you say it won't do much for me. Thank you for all the advice! Much appreciated! I'll stick with what i got. Will be replacing the 4k monitor though for movies at some point down the line if i catch a good sale. I hope you have a good day!

Well, you can get a calorimeter like the Colormunki Smile (now under brand Calibrite) for 100-300 and calibrate your screens. That would probably offer a noticable color quality upgrade.

the m27q-x is 400usd atm, but with the g274qpf-QD 170hz  (the best mid range monitor imo) is only 219.99 atm, it's hard to justify paying 400usd for 240hz

Can't deny, those 2 really look nice! I'll save up for one of those higher end monitors. The monitor i have hasn't been too bad. So stick with it for now.
