Identifying old(30+ years) computer parts

Recently decided to look through the attic of our house and found a basket with a bunch of really old PC parts left behind by a previous owner. A few are in their original boxes but most of it is just loose (PCI?) cards that I'm not quite sure what they are. E-waste pickup is coming by in a couple days and mostly just wondering if I should e-waste it all or if anything is worth trying to sell/pass on. pretty much all these parts are older than me so im wondering if anyone here has been around that long to know about them

Had a quick look, several serial/parallel cards, some mainboards, soundcard and associated stuff. Strictly speaking e-waste but some (most?) are good enough to put on some local marketplace and see what retro-people wanna pay for it. I don't think they're PCI, probably ISA bus.

First one is an HX100, IBM PC/XT era hard drive controller isa card, WDC is western digital.

The CT1870, the second one, is a creative cd-rom controller card for external CD drives.

Third one is an IBM SM-96, 14.4kbps internal modem card, for 14.4 dialup.

The set of 4 ram modules there are 30 pin SIMM modules, they were used in a bunch of stuff but they’re distinctly 80’s. Looks like someone’s old memory when they upgraded.

The SPG-660 is a single port serial card.

The DCS sound image is self explanatory, it’s a sound card.

I can keep going, pretty much just google identifiers and check eBay.

Your most notable items beyond the motherboards here are probably this orchid Fahrenheit VLB card

IMG_2118.jpeg.c0c96f45ac60da78154a96ad68d108f9.jpeg

which is a multimedia video card, older s3 chipset. It’s a 2mb capable card so it’s a decently desirable option for msdos. Though with those sockets unpopulated it’s only 1mb currently

yours is actually a cut down variant of the original orchid Fahrenheit which is a voice activated GPU, I shit you not, the blank circuitry there is for an audio input to voice control your pc

but even without that it’s a decent dos video accelerator, worth checking out if it works and what they sell for

One piece of advice.

Remove the barrel batteries from the motherboards listed as 22 and 24 as they are well known to leak and cause large amounts of damage that render these boards completely useless unless all the damages traces are rewired.

This is an Western Digital ISA card for a MFM/RLL hard drive. You can identify it from the separate 34-pin and 20 pin connectors.  This card is probably worthless except to someone who has a hard drive for it.

pBukjtyjp0LbztVMpZlhO2yIoTuxP5A-d3Hf7EvtfLGDtiz1JSHt-tPLGZ6Sr6UNbWHBXjv2O1cbmTo-85VajBPuTe7cD_aIWb3y8qu57T5KAWzX0uTFUqcGKWcIB5j5aNOJHe0yA21WveJ--C_Kf1I

This is a Creative Labs stand-alone cd-rom controller. This one in particular is for IDE CD-ROM's, the pins are missing for the Panasonic.

This is a modem. Based on the PCB it's a 14.4K modem. Brand probably irrelevant, but you see the same RC144DP chip on dozens of different modems.

30pin SIMM's, this is for a 386, as it's 512K chips of Fast Page memory, So this is probably a 2MB set.

This is a serial port card. Kinda unusual to see "just a serial port" card.

This is exactly what is on the box. DCS Sound Image S611. Basically just an ESS Audiodrive, a clone of the Sound Blaster.

This is another serial i/o card, the card has a serial and a parallel port, and has headers for a game port and another serial port.

Same as above, This is a serial port and parallel port card, no headers

This card is a also a serial port card that includes a floppy and hard drive controller, based on the shape of it, it's missing the slot cover part.

This is another modem. Based on the age it's probably a 9600 modem.

That is a 486 BIOS, not sure why that would not be on a MB unless it was flashed or scrapped.

Believe it or not this is a monochrome video card with a parallel port on it.

This is a Cirrus Logic Floppy and Hard drive MFM/RLL controller.

This is a 286 @ 16Mhz MB.

Another modem. Based on the date, probably 2400 baud.

NU1-is7ZONW0wpyTYTa-Rbz_wsu36CCVP1lB8_3x2FiqxY0fv15apGj3pkhRzwOuqo6DRWu0dJ8fR1y11G_-HLJ1kuuGPtfhpXhMhA2Nj_qhZ8PXGdHLL-YUHDfT9fu-lxMCMLwEkOH3VZBkHr1Lsm8

This appears to be another monochrome video card with a parallel port. FCC ID says "Biostar I/O card"

So, none of this stuff is particularly valuable. You might find some retro collector who might want them to build a 286 or a 386, but most of that stuff is serial port cards.
