Hi, so as the title already says, I'm currently in the search for a new laptop because in a few weeks I'm starting to study dentistry at university. I already have an Samsung Tab S 7+ but I would prefer a Laptop that I can use together with it. My Budget is currently around 1000€ which would be equal to around 1200 USD.

I would also love some tips and tricks on using an android tablet together with an Windows machine.

Thanks in forward

He said windows machine in the post. He probably doesn't want a mac.

What exact tasks does the laptop need to perform? Is it just regular stuff (web browsing, basic apps)? Or do you use heavier apps like games, or heavy productivity?

But if he's used to windows id suggest that instead. Cause I think using an operating system you know is more important than having something that's slightly better in a few specific things.

I don't think you need a 1200$ laptop for dentist school. what exactly are you doing with it? You can easily get a 500$ laptop that does the job of a 1200$ and then some than drop 1200$. Personally I go with the classics such as Dell, HP and Lenovo. Each of them provide a pretty solid laptop for 500$ including some sales you can get effective laptops for cheap.

If you're just using it for regular average joe things, such as browsing, some word/office/powerpoint 500$ is pretty acceptable considering today's CPU's.

however AFAIK there isn't android/windows integration for each other. Sure you can use some android apps on windows, but just recently they dropped support for it just recently so that's out of the picture.

In fact there are some sales on HP from what I can see for substantial savings. even for 2 n 1s  which you might benefit from. 2n1's combine the tablet + laptop in one form.

In general for Laptops....Intel wise stick with CPU's that state i3,i5,i7. AMD CPU's stick with Ryzen 3, 5 and 7. 8GB RAM bare minimum if more that's great. and at least 256 GB SSD.

I did my entire biotech program with a 3700U HP pavilion. Only upgraded to something more powerful because I got into PC Gaming.

Appreciate all of your answers yet, I would definetly prefer a Windows machine because I already got a Desktop PC but I yet don't know If I can take it with me. Also I'm not really an Apple fan.

Mainly I will use the laptop for studying (browsing, Powerpoint, ....) but sometimes I also code oder use it for events I Help out (lighting/DJ).

I Just have Set my budget to what I thought would get me a device I'm able tonise the next 5-6 years with enough headroom and durability.
