HP Prodesks 600 G2 MT - upgrading PSU and GPU

charva

Hello I have an HP Prodesk 600 G2 MT with i7-600 CPU and GTX 1050 Ti GPU. I'm looking to upgrade to some better GPU. Maybe RX 7600 or 7600 XT.

The problem is that would need a better power supply. From what I can tell HP is using some weird power supply and connectors so I can't just use an ATX power supply.

Is there some way to use ATX psu with this system? I have seen this adapter, but idk if I can get it in Czechia. https://www.moddiy.com/products/HP-ProDesk-600-PSU-Main-Power-24-Pin-to-6-Pin-Adapter-Cable-30cm.html?revpage=2&tab=ProductReviews#ProductTabs

Do you think it could work? Is there a better way besides changing whole motherboard and case?

btw I know that the GPU will be slightly slower cause of PCI 3.

I will probably leave it to some IT shop to do the change, but wanted to ask if it's even possible before ordering the GPU.

Thank you

Is your case a full tower, or a desktop case?

It's mini tower. Looks like this obrazek . I am not sure what is the exact difference between the things you said. Sorry

okay, that's a tower, that's fine.  (The Prodesk comes in different sizes, and other can't use normal PSUs or Graphics Cards.)

Yes, you'll need that adapter to use an ATX PSU.  So, I'd try to get that adapter before buying anything else.

PCIE 3 won't be a huge concern, it's only a small hit on any decent card.

Do you know what wattage PSU is in the HP now?

The PSU there currently is 280 W so gonna need to replace it for sure. Even the 1050 wasn't probably running at full potential with this.

Good to know the adapter is a way. Thank you

does your PSU have a single 6 pin on it?

Will check when I get home. Why?

Have this photo on hand though. Might help.

those aren't the 6 pin I was looking for, so yeah, you'll need a new PSU to upgrade anything.  Womp womp.
