Small issue pertaining to my IP location ("Recently used devices")

Tideroo
Go to solution Solved by Skiiwee29,

We don't control the IP location being reported. Thats controlled by your provider.

As for the email notification, you can disable that yourself for a new device login: https://linustechtips.com/settings/devices/

Browser, version and OS: W10 IoT LTSC 21H2 + FF 123.0

Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened? Live in a random country and login to LTT.com using a 4G router

What happened? Nearly everytime I login to LTT.com while using a 4G router, I get an email warning saying someone logged in from an unknown location. The location itself is always wrong (few hundred kilometers away sometimes) and always changes, even though I actually never moved out of my house.

What did you expect to happen? Not get this warning (if possible?). You can disable it, but then you won't know if someone managed to login into your account.

Link to a page where it happened, if applicable:  The login page itself.

Screenshots of the issue, if applicable:  Cannot provide one without revealing private information, sorry

Any other relevant details: It's not urgent by any mean, but it would be a nice QOL update ! 🙂

If it's a cloudflare error, what was the ray ID from the bottom of the error page? Unrelated

Yup, the location is taken from where ISPs chosen location is. For example my locations are always in Finland capital region, regardless of where I am.

Thanks for the explanation/confirmation Skiwee and Logical ! That was my initial guess (the ISP messing up with the location) but I wasn't sure about it. I disabled the warning so it should be fine now. 👌
