PlayStation 4 vs PC

bdbd
Go to solution Solved by Stahlmann,

The PS4 is a lot better value and it's also a more seamless experience. You will just have to accept a more limited game catalogue and long-term software support.

Also, you need a Playstation Plus supscription to play online games on a PS4.

Budget: like 150 $

current systems:

pc 1: dell t3500 motherboard, good psu, xeon w3550, 8gb ddr3, gtx 460,ssd

pc 2: prebuild B450M DS3H V2,athlon 3000g, 4gb ddr4 ram, meh psu, ssd, quadro 2000.

option 1: get gtx 970 for 140 dlrs.

option 2: get almost new PS4 fat for 150$, good condition.

i dont know what to do, ps4 seems to be a good option, now i just play L4D, i would like to play newer games on pc but my PC is kind of old i think, help.

To play newer games you would probably have to upgrade the rest of your pc alongside the GPU, I would go with the PS4 as consoles are always better value for money. Plus preowned games are dirt cheap and will run as intended.

Welcome to the forums!

Neither of those computers is worth upgrading. I'd 1000% go with the PS4 and scrounge used game disks

Im afraid I'd have to side with the PS4.

You wont get the level of power on the PC compaired to the ps4.

Except if you would save upto 200$ and get an optiplex that has an i7 4770, 8gb ram, a hdd(some have ssd) 500gb or 1tb, 500w psu or 450, get an rx 570 or 580 or gtx 1060 All used. But if your not much of an enthusiast and dont want the hassle of building and researching a PC then the PS4 would work great

If you’re in the US, upgrade the B450 system

IMG_2040.thumb.jpeg.56f8e0745776456d461b20058564c896.jpeg

You can get a ryzen 5 1600 for $40 optionally which allows for a better GPU

IMG_2042.thumb.jpeg.cf6d265b32b8826527c93a0dc6746fa6.jpeg

and if you opt for a 1600 that means an $80 GPU budget, which is enough for a GTX 980 or RX 590

None of those pc components are worth buying.

The PS4 is still a surprisingly good little console, with a huge back catalogue.

If at all possible, try to find a PS4 pro for the same money.

You'll need ps plus anyway if you want to play online and having it will give you access to some really good games to get you started.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Ps4 but keep in mind its at the end of its lifecycle and that you need to pay for ps4 plus to play online.

150$ is not enough yo build a pc that plays modern games

Both of the systems you presented cant do it already in a acceptable way and system 2 whilstupgradeable will basically cost you near a whole new pc to do so

i will be more like single player, i dont want to play with other ps4 players yikes LOL, in that case i will play L4D with the gtx 460 and i think that gtx 460 can hold it to ¬2018 games or something, im gonna try to play all newer games with the OVERCLOCKED gtx 460 and the last resort will be the PS4.

Its WAY better. A rx480/rx580 (same card) or rx 470/570 are both better cards. Try to get the 8gb version as 4gb is too little.

Also 16gb is going to go a long way.
