Can someone tell me if this PSU is good for my build?

vanovacc

Ok, so i have a older mid range PSU (i think so) , MS INDUSTRIAL KY-400ATX P4, and I was wondering if it could be enough for this build: MOBO: ASRock A320M-DVS R.40

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2400g 3.6 GHz

RAM: G. SKILL RIPJAWS 1x8GB 2600mhz OC-3200

GPU: Sapphire PULSE RX 570 ITX MINI

1x SATA HDD 1TB 7200RPM

1X SATA SSD 240GB

That psu is close to 20 years old and is suitable for a system of its era, being a 5v dominant unit

This would be fine if you had a pentium 4.

Do not use this for a modern system. Get a modern power supply.

Even if it still operates within spec and is in good condition, this type of psu simply isn’t meant for the high 12v loads of modern systems.

Thanks for the quick reply! I guess i don't know much about psus... Could you recommend me a cheap quality psu for around 50-80 euros/dollars?

The MSI MAG ABN is a decent PSU for budget builds. Comes with a 5 year warranty.

650w is way overkill for your current sytem but leaves room for upgrades.

See if your regional storefronts have the MSI MAG A550BN

Im in the us so I’m not sure what products are most prevalent in your region but these are a common recommendation for basic systems being cheap and decent quality.

Or really just anything that follows the same idea in this price range. Big name brand, 500w or more, bronze rated or better.

Though a 2400g and RX 570 is not a super demanding system at all so it would be reasonable to buy modern low end units, like a thermaltake smart:

these are just objectively not that good, but they’re reliable and for an apu with a low power GPU it would be more than fine
