my windows 10 won't update to windows 11

Go to solution Solved by jimboza1,

after like the 5th time restarting my pc it actually just magically worked, thank you for the replies though.

hello,

the issue is whenever i try to install windows 11 on my w10 pc, it gets stuck on 8% download.

windows update tells me my pc is ready for the update but it won't go past the 8% download.
the windows update service is not using any cpu, disk or ethernet, and uses about 100MB ram.

what i've tried:
- windows update troubleshooter
- startup repair

- sfc /scannow
-

Quote

net stop wuauserv

net stop cryptSvc

net stop bits

net stop msiserver

Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

net start wuauserv

net start cryptSvc

net start bits

net start msiserver
(in this order and hitting enter after every line)

- using the windows11installationassistant.exe, from the mcs website, looked like it worked at first but didn't install anything.

i'd like to install w11 without losing the majority of my files, so i wouldn't want to use an installation media.

any help is much appreciated, thank you in advance

Your PC supports it right??

Assuming it does just try the updater from here: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11
