Planning First Build Gaming PC

Hey, this is my first post, building my first Gaming PC. I have a parts list set, but not finalized, if you have recommendations please let me know. Only aim for this rig is gaming on a single, 1080p Monitor. Prices are in USD. Budget doesn't include price of monitor or peripherals

  • Budget: $900
  • CPU: AMD FD6350FRHKBOX FX-6350 6-Core Black Edition ($139.99)
  • Case: Rosewill Micro-ATX Mini Tower Computer Case ($49.99)
  • Graphics Card: ASUS Graphics Cards R9 290-DC2OC-4GD5 ($399.99)
  • RAM: G.skill RipjawsX 8GB (4GB x 2) DDR3-1866 RAM ($79.98)
  • Motherboard: MSI Socket AM3+/AMD 760G/DDR3/CrossFireX/SATA3 and USB 3.0/A&GbE/MicroATX Motherboard 760GMA-P34 (FX) ($73.65)
  • Hard Drive: WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, 7200 RPM ($59.24)
  • Power Supply: Corsair Builder Series CX 600 Watt ATX/EPS  80 PLUS (CX600) ($66.24)

Will the PCI 2.0 slot on the Motherboard will be a problem with the PCI 3.0 enabled GPU? If so can you reccomend a different board?

My current PC is running windows 7 and I'm unsure about installing windows 8.1 on the new rig

There's going to be no problems, PCI3 GPU will be fine in PCI2 slot. Just don't go lower than x8.

Between Win 7 and 8.1 I'd go for 8.1, but hey, choose whichever you're comfortable with (but don't forget that 8.1 has blazing fast boot time if you install it on SSD).

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

Don't go M-ATX with AMD as all of the boards have junk VRM that will destroy the traces in the PCB and/or kill the CPU.
