4k Ready for under $1000?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3Oiwm

I plan on doing this build within the next month or two and would like it to be able to play 4k on medium-high settings. I plan on buying a 4k monitor once non TN panels drop to around $600.

Think it will acomplish this? Suggestions?

All I have now is a 1080p screen and this will obviously be overkill for that.

I think it will play, but not get the best fps. but it is still a good rig for the price, maybe a CPU upgrade.

That would work on most medium settings. I would go with a WF3 and a better CPU though.

I budget build well. Want to learn? PM me if you want advice.

Your build is very unbalanced. The CPU is too weak. You should look into an FX 8320 if you want to stay on the AMD side or any Intel i5 or higher.

You should also buy the 850W EVGA Supernova because you have more headroom when you pair your R9 290s in the future, which you definitley should for 4K.

who cares...

I would buy a 1440p monitor but it looks like the market is going to jump straight to 4k.

Although it may be worth it just to get away from the TN panel I have now.

I had a build with an 8320 planed out but that leaves no room for improvement as AM3+ is dead.

Do I want better performance now or upgradeablity and support? I guess it comes down to if the FM2+ socket will outperform the AM3+ before FM2+ dies.

Yes. It's a shame. I'd either use the platform as long as it's still 'new', because you are going to need a new mobo for FM3 CPUs anyways, OR go with Intel. A i5-4570 is a good option. 4430 is also good. The 4670K will most likeley break the bank i guess...

who cares...

Performance now. FM2+ will likely never be as string as the high emd of AM3+, even though it is a discontinued platform.

Anything Intel breaks the bank.

If you can save more money, you should save up. If it would take too long, you should maybe step down the GPU. I have no idea to what though. A GTX 760 4 GB version isn't very beastly for 4K. Two of them are but then you're stuck with two medium GPUs.

idk. I'd save up or  kill an old piggybank.

who cares...

Do you need to buy a computer now? If you have something to use in the interm, it's probably going to be a fair bit before 4k IPS panels drop in price.

Might as well wait until they do, and then buy. You'll get much better performance for your dollar.

Now that I put it together the Intel option isn't too expensive at all. The 280x is enough for 1080p gaming and I can always add another for 4k.

Yeah. All I have now is a Thinkpad X201T that can barely run DOTA 2. I also have a PS3 but want to go next gen. Might as well kill 2 birds with one stone right?

Are there any 4k games out yet?

I've been satisfied at 1080, so I haven't really followed it.

for 4k you need two of these r9 290s...the market will not ''jump'' to 4k as you've mentionned either, 1080p gaming is the standard now and the technology for 4k gaming is not really there just yet...you have to realise that 4k is 4 times more pixels to push for a gpu, and alone a 290 or gtx780 cant even max out some games at 1080p...let alone 4k...two of these will push 40 frames per second on medium/low settings...

also fm2 will never be the high end option for amd, a new socket for a new powerful high end architecture will come out if they quit am3+...if ever they pull out such a new chip.
