I suggest you wait for unlocked version of haswell refresh.

yup, that is correct, but seeing that devils canyon is probably going to be a overclockers heaven (intel claims so) id get a K version if you already have that Z87 mobo

no, 2011 chips are  X8XX or X9XX, this is a 4790, X7XX, it's an i7.

4790 is a locked haswell refresh cpu. Notice that the 4790K devils canyon is not just an "unlocked version" because its not.

 

Devils canyon are totaly diffrent cpu´s they don´t have the ivr and are probalby not even backward compatible with Z87 boards.
