Can my aio replace the back exhuast fan

Go to solution Solved by daygeckoart,

Yes, that used to be how most people mounted their radiators. The air it's pulling will be warmer but it shouldn't be that hot. It helps with cooling of the rest of the system because the hot air from the CPU isn't being dumped into the case!

I'm going for the nzxt kraken 120mm aio and the deepcool macube 110 case and was wondering if its possible if I could replace the back exhuast fan with the cpu cooler. This question may be dumb but it's my first pc build.

Simple answer, yes. Slightly more complicated answer, yes, but you're probably going to see a slight drop in performance because the AIO is pulling hot air right off of the CPU block and hot air right off of the GPU. My preference is always to use AIOs as an intake so it's pulling in cool outside air, but I think I'm in the minority. And I go way out of my way to avoid needing an AIO in the first place.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

Yeah I plan usng the top as an intake even though hot air is always rising, the airflow on the front is not the best. But I'm using mid-low end hardware, Ryzen 5 5600x

Why are you using an AIO?

Yes, but as mentioned above, your CPU temperatures will take a hit due to the hot air passing through the radiator, and less heat being transferred as a result.

My configuration consists of two front intake fans, and two exhaust fans mounted on the radiator, with no active straight exhaust. I've monitored temperatures for temperatures of various components during stress tests, and never had any thermal issues whatsoever.

120mm AIOs suck.

I had a 3700x in a LianLi TU 150 with an H80i and I had to underclock it to get it to stay cool.

yeah but the problem is that the front air takes absolutely suck. I will stick 2 120 mm fans there but they will barely get any airflow

Use fans with high static pressure.

I think based on what I'm reading, you might be better off going with Lian Li UNI FAN P28s instead. They appear to offer higher static pressure than the Corsair HD120s.

Thanks, any recommendations on a fan hub? Unsure if the motherboard pins will be enough
