CMOS Battery died on my Asus ROG Crosshair 8 Impact Board

Go to solution Solved by Poinkachu,

Laptop cmos battery

Or

Cmos battery with jst connector

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=cmos+battery+with+jst+connector&crid=3DKTMUQORJWPO&sprefix=cmos+battery+with+jst+connecto%2Caps%2C349&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

Polarity matters IIRC.

If the connector turns out to be different (I don't think it will, but ASUS can be weird sometimes), just splice the old wire to the new one.

So the CMOS Battery on my Asus ROG Crosshair 8 Impact Mainboard died and since it's one of those special ones with the two wires I'm asking if someone can give me a Amazon link to an exact replacement ? I don't know if the Connector that Asus uses on the Board is special and if the polarity matters ? It's a standard CR2032 Battery but I'm just not sure about the Connector.

(I took off the shrink wrap from the Battery to take a look at it)

Asus unfortunately doesn't say on the Boards side where you could buy a replacement: https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-crosshair/rog-crosshair-viii-impact-model/helpdesk_bios/

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I cant seem to access amazon services for some reason but searching for "motherboard battery with cable" got me results on ebay. (PS I am too cheap to spend $9 on a battery I would have just cut the cable off and soldered it into new battery)

Just replace the battery. Use electrical insulating tape to hold the wires attached to the battery.

And I did just that, kinda yolo but it actually works which is the important part:

Thankfully the Metal tabs just had one solder (or weld, idk) point in the middle of the tab so I just bent them outwords and cut them off with my Scissors. That gave me enough length to then just tape it to a new CMOS Battery.

I actually remembered that on my Zotac Zbox EN1060 (which I had over 3 years ago) the CMOS Battery also died once. And I used the same yolo method of just taping the wires onto the new CMOS Battery and it worked.
