Is this a joke?

Go to solution Solved by someone,

It's more than likely the motherboard, graphics card, or an SSD, if you have one. My SSD makes a high pitched sound if I pin it to the wall loading something.

Are you sure it's not the coil whine from the graphics card?

Depends on what motherboard. Mine does stay on after powering down. If you really think it's the motherboard that makes the sound, try assembling it outside the case and try to pin point the exact location the sound is coming from.

it was a Foxconn somthing or other (to lazy to walk across the room to look at the mobo)

any yah same thing, this was a on-board gpu motherboard

700th post :P

Yep its coil while from the VRM's on the mobo. RMA it

Yes, the LED on motherboards will stay on whenever it is plugged into a PSU even if it is powered off. The noise you are hearing is coil whine, and the only way to fix this is to RMA and get a new motherboard, or a different brand of motherboard just to be safe.

ANSWER FOUND AND IT aint no coil (no gpu installed eather)

after some research i found out that it is a loose inductor THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HELP :)

"Loose Inductor" A loose inductor can create a very high-pitched noise that's difficult for many people to even hear. Indicators are usually anchored on the motherboard and create micro-vibrations as a part of their normal use. However, if the inductor comes loose from the motherboard it may start vibrating ever so slightly -- but incredibly quickly -- such that it produces a high-pitched noised similar to the ringing someone hears in their ears following a very loud noise. Inductors are used on the motherboard to prevent irregularities in the electrical current from damaging other hardware components. A loose capacitor won't damage the system, but people who can hear it might find it annoying.

SO a hight pitch noise comes from a pc i've just assembled..

check all the fans no problem..

check the hdd does quite a noise but it aint that bad

check the psu damn it's silent

whats left ?ask yourself

it's the damn motherboard (asus a55bm) no speaker installed . the sound is always there until i turn off the psu and the sound seems to fade is 5 seconds (going to higher pitch as it fades)

im curious to see what is causing the noise

any thoughts?

Yeah, the coil whine on my old GPU was pretty annoying. I could hear every frame it created.

It could be an error code so look in the manual. Look around to see if that is a problem for the motherboard and if not rma it before it goes dead.

So I spelt something wrong in my post... I don't care I don't read through what I write and I type very quickly.

there are sound in some mobos, used for signals, its either something like that which means errors, check manual, can be electrical aswell.

It's likely the caps on the motherboard.

So it is the Mobo or PSU?

it's definitely the mobo .. but is it normal for the led to stay on with the system turned down ? i dont think so

Is the PSU cable plugged in well?Mine has a small defect and doesn't plug in too well.It makes that electric type of noise when it isn't plugged in very well.

Or it's the mobo caps.

Nope that isn't normal! But i guess it is the PSU since that provides the power. RMA them both and see if you can get a replacement one.

Do you mean the power LED or other (my power led stays always on)

This LITERALLY happend to me like 2 days ago on my moms pc. this is what is going to happen.

In about 1.5 days the pc will make a burning plastic smell, shortly after that, it wont turn on, then the mobo gets fried.

RMA your motherboard asap before it fails and could possibly take down other components with it
