Friend needs assistance with pc component choices

Other details friend wants to buy/build a gaming pc for someone for a christmas gift to show them about upgrading a pc and such

Not sure the used market for you, but Iwould say 100 pounds could get you very used, very outdated machine.  

 

Like a $15 CPU, $20 GPU, $5 case, $15 PSU, etc etc etc.

You can’t build a gaming pc with £100, not even with used parts unless some core components are donated to you.

yep my exact thoughts as well as the parts you could get for that price prob cant run those games but was just curious if anyone had any ideas

yea i mean i might get where he might think that because of the ammount of $100 builds but there economy is totally ifferent to ours so

usually unless you have a friend with a pc you wont get one for that price

like even 150 to 200 could get you like an optiplex a cheap ssd and like an rx 480 but 100 is nigh impossible

At this budget dont bother trying to build from scratch unless you find some good deals or used workstations are overpriced cause all you are gonna get is 2nd/3rd gen rubbish or if you are lucky you can get cheap x58, but all of those are worse than a used workstation for a comparable price

 

Id reccomend looking at hp z420/440 workstations, prefferably ones with xeon v3 cpus like the e5 1650 or 1660 v3, but ifd those are too expensive the x79 versions will do aswell with the e5 1650 (v2) or if you get lucky the 1680 (v2)

 

Rest of the budget for the gpu, should be able to find some dirt cheap 4gb rx 570/580 since those go for peanuts nowadays (around 35-40$ here in indo so bet theyll be cheaper over there in the uk)

rx 570 to 80 is about 60 ish

my christ this guy just told me that the person he wants to get it for has a ps5 i am utterly confused on why he wants the pc to play modern cod or fortnite or dying light 2 if the ps5 can do so much better god save me
