AMD 5700 with 4060 TI or Intel 13400f with 3060 12gb

Cbreesy

Need advice on which prebuilt would be best for my 11yo nephew for a Christmas present. Pricing is similar for either:

1: Lenovo Legion tower 13400f 16gb ram 512gb ssd with 3060 12gb $799 on sale

2: CyberpowerPC Gamer Master AMD Ryzen 7 5700 16gb ram 2tb ssd with 4060 ti 8gb $899 on sale

Pricing is similar cause I would need to upgrade the storage on the Lenovo. But not sure if the 3060 12gb is a good choice compared to the 4060 ti for a similar price. Thoughts?

I would go for the 4060 ti pc. 5700 is a little weaker than a 13400f but 4060 ti is considerably better than 3060 non ti. Not to mention you wouldn't have to upgrade storage or really do anything else to it.

The 3060 bought on ebay is a smarter choice than a 4060 ti new when building a custom pc, but that is not the case here as it is a prebuilt.

Between these two the Cyberpower seems like the better buy. Even without considering the storage situation, the 4060ti system just makes more sense. Better GPU means cranking up the eye candy.

Honestly I think with those gpus you would never reach a cpu bottleneck so the difference between the 5700 and the 13400f is basically not a factor.

That was one of my main concerns.. that and the lack of DDR5 support and possible future upgradability. Although to Lenovo is also limited because of its proprietary board and 500 power supply.

DDR5 won't make a difference until you are putting in a significantly more powerful gpu.

Thanks everyone! Just pulled the trigger and purchased the CyberpowerPC with the 5700 and 4060 ti.. I think it’s the better choice too,  I just needed some convincing. Especially since I had already actually purchased the the Lenovo before the CyberpowerPC went on sale. Thankfully it’s still in the return window though.
