Do I have to adjust my mouse DPI when i change the resolution but stay at the same screen size?

patrickgstir

Currently having a 24 inch 1080p monitor but I'm getting a 24 inch 1440p monitor soon (don't blame me, i can't fit larger ones on my desk). And I'm wondering if I have to adjust my mouse settings for that new monitor so that my cursor moves at the same speed as on the old monitor. Theoretically not, right? Pretty basic question I know but I'm not entirely sure so I thought I'd ask you guys.

If Windows display scaling stays at 100%, the cursor will always move the same rate of pixels regardless of resolution. This could cause the effect of a slower mouse at high res. But it's not actually running at a lower DPI, it just has more pixels to move across. This sensitivity illusion won't effect FPS games if that's what you're worried about.
