Wait till he finds out the mendacino is called an 8020 and 9020

the generation is not the first number, that just tells you how old the model of the laptop is.

Rembrant-R there is an 8035 and 9035 as well

Have modern HBM solutions improved latency, last time I looked at this for an SOC (with cpu latency sensitive workloads) HBM was sub-optimal.

Yes generations improved in every way. There are chips with it. Now it just needs to be designed and tested for specific config.

Now how much RND and testing also price point target would make sense is another case.

Yes, Tera, as in 1 trillion operations. IOPS already is in use for in out.
Its not floating point.

Gaming GPUs do not have an "efficient" path for low precisions integer ops. hell, Ampere cant even do 32bit ints faster then 32bit flops, because half the cores are FP exclusive with the other half being able to do FLOP or Integer opertation.

Hence why a small AI chip is able to do Int8 at 40TOPS when a 3070 would only be doing 10TOPS on the cuda cores.

GPUs can, if you are prepared to hand over your car in exchange for one that can lol. H100 is 4000 INT8 TOPs and A100 is 624 INT8 TOPs.

Maybe Nvidia will start giving some of this to gaming GPUs soon???

If AM5 is only a 2 generation thing (vs 4 on AM4) it'll end up a bit scammy and close to Intel anticonsumer strategy  😮

There are very good reasons for a new socket - which Intel rarely had, that's the problem.

If Zen 6 moves to DDR6 or has any other drastic changes - they will need a new socket.
