7800X3D Config & Chipset Question

  1. As I have a 7800X3D and this task/process got installed during a chipset installation (version 5.05.16.529) which I hear is bad thing for my 3D V-Cache on my CPU. Basically disables it? Only meant for the 7900X3D & 7950X3D...Right? 3D V-Cache Process in Task Manager

  2. Do I need to reinstall windows to install a new chipset driver or remove this one and install the latest without the 3D V-cache checked at install? Do I need to enable game mode or is that incorrect? I think I've been reading to much. Hah.

As of right now I see no performance increase in any game with this chipset driver since I got this CPU. Only enabled PBO and CO. Wanna make sure I'm getting the 3D V-Cache to work correctly.

What? No, install the latest chipset driver. It sounds like you heard something very incorrect or just misunderstood talk about how 7950x3D works.

You certainly have been reading too much. Just install the new chipset driver. Don't uncheck anything.

You have a 7800x3D, there is only one CCD and the whole thing has the 3D V-Cache. There is nothing to disable or enable, its just always working.

As for your performance, what are you comparing this to? What is the full system spec and display resolution?

Well my last system I had was a 3900X. I don't use davinci anymore so I went to upgrade I went with the 7800X3D as 90% of my use case is gaming & streaming. Is there a specific way to tell if the 3D V-Cache is actually active and working?

Full system in sig but I got you for easier read

If the CPU is functioning at all, its active and working. Its the cache for the cores which is always in use. All 8 cores have it so there is nothing to turn on.

You've been reading too much about the dual CCD chips, none of that applies to the single CCD 7800x3D.

Ah, okay. Yeah I thought I'd ask here as Reddit saying something along the lines of "seeing that in task manager is a no go for the single CCD chips like the 7800X3D". I know you guys know your shit so wanted to make sure.  I just really haven't noticed any "increase" in any games. I'll install the newest chipset if i can find it. AMD site keeps giving me adrenaline edition. Thank you for clarifying, I do appreciate the quick response as well.

If you select chipsets and use the tool to drill down, it takes you right here.

Ah, got it. lol.

Well with everything installed I'll see if the increase is there from my 3900X. Might need to mess around with PBO and CO till I get it where it should be.
