Summary

The 7900 GRE is now on sale in Europe markets (Romania and Spain linked in Videocardz.com) for €720, about €170 euros less than the 7900 XT on the same website and €140 more than the 7800 XT once again on the same website

Interestingly, in Spain and Romania, the Sapphire RX 7900 GRE card is now available as a separate purchase, eliminating the need to buy an entire gaming PC. These cards are priced at 719.90 EUR, which is at least 120 EUR less expensive than the RX 7900 XT in Europe (according to price comparison tool Geizhals) and 170 EUR cheaper than the RX 7900 XT PULSE from the same store.

There are some noteworthy considerations to bear in mind. These cards are sold without the fancy packaging typically associated with retail graphics cards. Instead, they are shipped with replacement packaging since they arrive in bulk at the retailer’s warehouse. However, this product is sold directly by one of the largest Spanish retailers and still complies with the full 2-year warranty conditioned by EU regulations.

It’s important to note that only four RX 7900 GRE cards are known to be available on the market, and three of them are overclocked. Consequently, the clock speeds and power specifications provided should be regarded as reference values. The PULSE model which is offered by these stores has lower clocks than NITRO+, reportedly at 1925/2290 MHz (game/boost) which is still higher than reference clocks.

Spanish retailer PcComponentes has listed the Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE Gaming OC for $761.56. The graphics card is 19% cheaper than a Radeon RX 7900 XT and 24% more expensive than a Radeon RX 7800 XT. The Radeon RX 7900 GRE is also available in Romania. PC Garage sells the same Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE Gaming OC for $787.40. (all prices converted to USD)

There may be a place for the Radeon RX 7900 GRE if it retains the $649 MSRP. The only problem we see is that the Radeon RX 7800 XT, which sells for $499. The Radeon RX 7900 GRE is up to 10% faster than the Radeon RX 7800 XT, depending on the resolution, but costs 30% more. That's a hard sell in any market.

My thoughts

In my opinion, it's good we're getting even more options, even if this is a lukewarm one at 720 euros, though not a terrible price considering the Spanish PC market isn't nearly as mature as something like Germany or even UK or US

For it to make a real impact however they should plan to produce more models with "only four RX 7900 GRE cards are known to be available on the market", even though that is unlikely

Isn't it roughly the same performance as RX 7800 XT which is even cheaper than that?[
