CPU/GPU or SSD issue?

Cyberpunk 2077 2.0.

 

Settings: High, Ray Tracing-OFF, 1440p with DLSS (Quality). 
 

I get 60+ fps everywhere except when driving fast, especially when driving really fast and loading new textures. Such as making a sharp turn into a street. Then, it drops down to 50 even. BUT,  if I remain calm for a few secs and let some time pass, the FPS stabilizes again while looking at the exact same image. 

 

Could this be because I need a better SSD or what? I saw they require a NVME M.2 now for optimal settings.

 

Does this sound like a CPU/GPU issue or should I get a high end drive?

I mean logically speaking if you are loading things it will always be slower than if the textures are already in ram. Would faster ssd help? I mean if you load the textures faster with a faster it would logically improve performance but the real question would be by how much. Another question is there a way to prevent loading of new textures or maybe making sure that the loading of textures is faster than you are moving in game. These questions I do not have the answer to honestly.

You should post what your current system specs are if you are asking if you should upgrade. I wouldn't say a drop from 60ish to 50ish frames is uncommon in any game, but if it seems specific to places where it would be loading new areas or textures, then a better NVME is a safe bet for an upgrade, especially considering how cheap they are getting.

Better than what exactly? What's the rest of the specs?

 

2.0 did increase minimum specs and also made an SSD a requirement, so quite possible you either need to drop settings or upgrade your hardware.

If issues are only happening during loading of textures, then yes I would say an NVME drive is a good upgrade. Especially considering that the slowest NVME drives (~1500MB/s) are at least triple the speed of the fastest SATA drives (550MB/s). Mid range NVME can be 3000-4000MB/s or high end PCIe 4.0 versions up closer to 8000MB/s. so you can see significant speed ugprades. I'm pretty sure you can get a mid range NVME for like 50 to 75$ right now. I would go for it and install all your games on the NVME.

Personally I would just swap it all over to an nvme if you are going through the hassle of upgrading. You could keep the ssd as extra storage if you wanted
