Steam deck alternatives

I'm considering a steam deck but want to also look at alternatives.  Has LTT reviewed any and have any suggestions for an alternative?

SteamDeck is about as cheap as it gets for a decent experience and there's a support community around it. 

There are faster alternatives out there. They cost more. If you're OK with a "good enough" experience from the hardware perspective and probably a better experience from a software perspective, by the time the hardware matters, the SteamDeck2 will be a thing.
