arma 3 has horrible threading. you need like 2 very strong cores.

so, the 3770 has 4 of em at 3.4Ghz stock

You can't compare the game engines.

Low-Medium-High-Ultra settings don't do the same thing in both games.

The performance issue in Arma has been beaten to death and back again

and people refuse to listen and insist on doing the opposite of what OFP/Arma vets tell them. (People who jumped on the DayZ/Wasteland bandwagon)

LOW does not mean better performance in the Real Virtuality engine.  it some cases in makes things worse.

ie:

Shadows on LOW = CPU

Shadows on HIGH = GPU

Go to the Bohemia forums and read the threads dedicated to getting the best visual and FPS performance for your systems.

http://forums.bistudio.com/index.php

Cranking up the VIEW and OBJECT distance is going to rape even the beefiest of system.

Take the settings down.

1. Arma isn't the best optimized

2. It still looks fucking awesome with some settings down

3. Make sure you have V-Sync off as by default it's on. May help a little.

I run a solid 30 on Arma 3 Ultra, but even at medium and 4x AA and shit it looks awesome.  Wouldn't fret though, it's a common issue with the Arma series.

Well, you would need core #1  to run @ 4.8, but since you have locked processor ( non k variant ) you`re baked.

so, one at 4.0ghz and 3 at 3.2Ghz will do it, no problem, but you got a point, an Extreme 6 Core would do even better

No. I am referring to only 1 core power. You need one very powerful core, since the thread that runs on it is main one an requires lots of pure Ghz.

6 core wouldnt help

you think that wile one core is operating hard the others are just chilling ?!  no even with one core working hard it still spreads a few threads on the other core to help out with, why do you think multiple cores where founded in the first place, what u said is so yesterday with old architectures, now it takes use out of multiple-cores much more efficiently

You see, unlike you, i dont talk out of ass.

If you at least used google, typed in arma 3 cpu load or something, you would know whats up.

But now, you play a know-it-all prat, who doesnt belive / want to belive or refuse to belive what other tell him?

Well GL in life.

Now go search for info yourself.

Take the settings down.

That's not the answer.

As I've said above,  some settings need to be increased to switch the load off the CPU and onto the GPU.

Games that use the Real Virtuality engine need to be tweaked to find a balance between performance and visual quality the user is happy with with.

There is an FPS counter in the Video options, play with things to get the visual and FPS you are happy with.

The default LOW/HIGH/ULTRA settings are just there to get started, not an end all solution.

Well, taking AA down for me worked. And I have a less powerful CPU. So taking down settings does work...Just got to take down the right ones.

I will say it just like this.

- Your GPU is not powerfull enough to run Arma 3 on Ultra

- Your CPU is not powerfull enough to run Arma 3 on Low

- More scripts = Less FPS

- Bad server = Less FPS

- Huge view distance = Low FPS

- Arma 3 engine is not optimized really vell => Deal with it
