need help choosing a monitor

so i currently game on a crappy 1080p 60hz tn display and i wanna upgrade to a 1440p display. my budget is $200 i play mostly games like resident evil doom the last of us and stray i have a 3900x and a 6700xt so spec wise my amd system should have no issues at 1440p im looking for 144hz or higher refresh rate thanks for your time im on disability and cant work hence the limit of a $200 budget im currently looking at this display just not sure if its worth the price since its a VA display not an IPS display

I'm not sure you can find a decent 1440p for 200$, unless it is used. If the monitor you found has good specs but the only thing is that it's VA, you can go ahead and buy it, I have a VA panel as a second monitor myself, just keep in mind that VA panels have bad viewing angles. Other than that they're pretty good.

I've never seen it before but it looks decent enough. You can try it and maybe refund it if you don't like it. I'm not from the US but I believe that newegg has a 30 days refund like amazon.

Viewing angle in VA is not an issue. Black smearing, slow respond is the issue. 

 

Once you use something better, it is very hard to not notice the not that good one.

I have an IPS and a VA and other than the viewing angle I don't see any difference, I've had this debate before so let's not take it any further lol. Of course the IPS is going to be better or whatever else, but in terms of just using a decent monitor, again, I don't see any difference. In any case the OP is on a short budget so the options are limited for a 1440p.

You don't see any difference, not means others don't see, also from which statistics showing people don't like VA is viewing angle issue only. 

 

I had use from TN, VA, IPS, Mini-LED in VA, WOLED and also QD-OLED. I can see every type of the differences, beside TN, none of the display type panel impact to the usage due to viewing angle, but black smearing, slow respond time and ghosting is the cons in current VA panel in the marker except Mini-LED in VA release by Samsung in Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 (not the 43"), Neo G8 and Neo G9 is ok and don't have or very minimal black smearing, no ghosting and very fast respond time. 

 

For budget, choosing VA is not a good choice, should choose IPS if budget tide for a good monitor.

Unless you go used there aren't any high refresh rate (above or at 144hz) monitors on the market

aight @kaitlin4599 ask this guy then, apparently he knows everything and has had every display in existence. I’m in no mood of having the usual “VA is shit” argument, I’m muting the post. I’ve given you my honest opinion as someone that’s been using a VA panel as a second monitor for 3 years. I checked, NewEgg does have the 30 days return thing so my advice is to just try it and see if you like it or you agree with mr.displayconnoisseur here.

I also giving honest opinion, they is no need to used 3 years to know it is good or bad, too long usage means you are adapted to it and get use to it, not means they are great.

some people have worse experiences, others have better ones. VA is all around worse anyways in terms of the technical side of things. It may not be 'shit' but it's not as advanced

I agreed and this is the cons on IPS and the value monitor for having deeper black currently is VA.

Interesting option is AOC Q24G2A - 1440p 24" IPS 165Hz. Should not cost much more than 200$. 

Matter of preference though, most 1440p are 27" or 32".

@Andrewtst@filpo yo sorry I just realized I was mixing up VA for TN, I have a TN panel. Anyway my advice still stands, they should try it out since it's a good deal and refund it in case they don't like it, or go with one of filpo's suggestions.
