Help sense-check my build (i9-13900K & RTX 4090)

najlast

Hello! Thoughts on this build for 1440p 165Hz gaming? My main worry is the case being noisy, however I haven't found any good alternative so far. Grateful for all feedback! Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend air cooling for a unlocked 13 gen i9 not to mention if your primary use will be gaming then a i7 would be the way to go. Runs cooler while giving you similar frames per second.  I would look at these changes.

Thanks! Budget isn't an issue so I want to make sure I get the best possible PC. Would I be stupid to go with i9 and air cooling? I'm hearing conflicting feedback on this wherever I look. 😄

You would be limiting the performance a lot with an air cooler. It really is a waste of money too even though you aren't worried about your budget. The i7 is a better choice. Don't forget a bending correction frame if you can find one in your country.

Thanks! Is the non K variant of the i7 chip suitable? I'd then be looking at this build.

It seems you are Asus fan. Do not waste your money in ROG Strix GPU, that Asus board is also pretty bad. PSU is overpriced and not that good.

Torrent and air cooling should be fine, but you can also go with case such as Phanteks G500A Performance and 420mm AIO for better cooling.

Get cheaper GPU, Asrock or MSI motherboard, Faster XMP RAM.

Thanks! I want to keep the build as quiet as possible and therefore I'm cautious about AIO. Also not a huge fan of liquid cooling. Would I be making a bad move by going with an i7 and air cooling for this build?

I can change to this RAM (and increase to 64GB): https://www.webhallen.com/se/product/359941-Corsair-Vengeance-64GB-2x32GB-6600Mhz-DDR5-32CL-CMK64GX5M2B6600C32

This RAM is good.

If you don't overclock PNY 4090 EPIC-X will be as quiet as Asus ROG Strix for about 400 Euros less.

If this is a gaming build, get 7800X3D, not I7.

Yes.

A 13900k at STOCK needs THE BEST of the shelf cooler possible to hope to not run at 100c and run slower.

You'll be far better off getting a lower end cpu. Besides for gaming a 13900k is so stupid overkill it will never be properly used for just games.

Get a 13600k, 13700k or the fastes gaming cpu atm the 7800x3d and have them be properly cooled by an air cooler

Thanks! If I change air cooling to liquid cooling and go with the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360, would that make more sense?

Build would then look like this:

If you want silence get a 7800x3d that way there isnt that much heat to get rid of hence you can run your fans alot quieter, wont even need an aio or a beefy aircooler since they dont put out much heat although they run kinda hot simply because the garbage ihs and the extra 3d cache being heat insulators, like 90w ish tops iirc and usually quite abit lower than that while gaming, dont even need a beefy aircooler to cool that much power

Better but like for gaming just get a 7800x3d its literally better. Or an i7 no difference what so ever that you'll notice

Oh and save some money on the psu it's a good unit but like a rmx or other great ones are right there equally good if not better for less

A silent vase 802 is also a bad case for this. Sure it has padding but that does NOTHING against fans having to run WAY FASTER to help cool the parts that are now running way hotter due to lack of airflow
