HELP! My Panasonic AG DVC15P won’t turn on

Matt129

I know this isn’t probably the best forum for this but tbh I can’t find a better one that I can actually get a response from lol. I recently got a MiniDV Panasonic prosumer camcorder for free, but it has a weird issue. It is 100% unresponsive, unless I eject the tape. When I eject the tape it will come on for about a second, spit out the tape, and turn back off. The On/Off switch does nothing. Now here’s the weirdest part. If I spam the eject button, as long as I continue to press it, the camera will turn on, stay on, and boot into the menus and even display video and zoom in and out and autofocus. But when I stop spamming the eject button it turns off. Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to fix it no matter how invasive because I got it for free lol. Thank you any help you can give me!

Seems like it could be as simple as the power button being broken/the connection from it to the rest having a bad contact or such.

It could be that, but there would be no way to fix that aside from replacing a daughter board lol, which would be impossible to find. Also it may not be that because at one point it started working for about 30 seconds when I powered it up the first time after it getting it, and taking the tape in and out.

It could just be a broken solder joint, a connector/flex needing cleaning/reseating...

Well you won't know until you check, and gotta start somewhere, what would be the easiest is usually a good place to start.

Look for service manual.

Not English-speaking person, sorry, I'll make mistakes. If you're kind, maybe you'll be able to understand.

If you're really kind, you'll nicely point that out so I will learn more about write in good English.  🙂
