Recommended sata 2.5 ssd

I have a hard drive and was considering upgrading, any cheap reliable 1tb ssds?

I'd go with Crucial MX500. Some are even cheaper, but this is considered quite reliable.

KC600, MX500, 230s, 870 evo, 860 evo, 860 pro,   

if you want Adata then SU800, or SX850, SX950U, but I would avoid it.

For the 2.5” SATA form factor, I’m a big fan of Samsung’s PRO and EVO product lines. I have over a dozen in my various machines:

 

- a 10 year old 128GB 840 PRO

- eight 500GB 860 EVOs that are 1 to 6 years in operation

- four 1TB 870 EVOs that have been in use for a year.

 

That said, I’m sure you can’t go wrong with (almost) any brand. I’ve also got a single seven year old WD Blue 500GB SSD that’s also running strong. The tech involved in manufacturing SSDs in this form factor is very mature and reliable these days.

The 840 is a PRO, not an EVO.

In the last years, I've been using Samsung in the various machines that I have and the PC's I've worked on. Mainly 860 EVO and 870 QVO, when referring to 2.5" SATA drives, different storage sizes, but also including 1TB ones. From a personal  standpoint I highly recommend them. I have never had any issues so far. I can't speak for other brands since I do not have such a thorough experience with them.
