Tips on 4K with great color, HDR and refreshrate

I remember when Eve Spectrum announced their 4K displays with great numbers on performance, refreshrate and such, and I was craving for one of those displays.

Would've been a great display, but wouldn't probably had it yet due to the company history.

 

But anyway. Is there any kind of display that could match the Eve Spectrum 4K?

I wanna have the possibility to game with 120hz, and have a display that can give me a good coloroutput and descent HDR for video and graphic work.

Minimum requirements (as stated by the producer of the display):

120 hz, HDR600, 97% DCI-P3, 98% sRGB, 5ms response, 4K DCI (UHD 16:9 accepted).

 

The Eve Spectrum (Dough Spectrum) hit's those marks. Any other brands (except for Eizo, don't have that kind of money)?

ASUS ProArt Display PA32UCG-K has similar (if not better) specs, but it has 48-120hz VRR, what the heck is VRR? Can it work on 120hz constant refreshrate?

 

And, haven't yet understood all the different paneltypes, IPS, OLED and all that. 
I thought Plasma was the best!

VRR is "variable refresh rate", it's a technology to reduce tearing if you aren't getting a consistent 120 FPS in a game. 48-120 is the monitor's VRR range for GSync/FreeSync (and I think the newest consoles have VRR support too?). Unless you have one of those turned on in a game the monitor will show a consistent 120 Hz.

If this is important to you, get OLED as OLED is truly can reach 0.3 ~ 1.0ms 

 

OLED is the best now but it got text fringing issue for gaming series due to Windows only support RGB pixel alignment but all gaming monitor now is WRGB (WOLED) or diamond pixel (QD-OLED) alignment.

PG32UQXR is finally coming out this month. Looks promising and likely the 4k monitor I'll get if the price stays at £1500. Not out yet just 2 more weeks but keep an eye out.

 

In theory OLED is best but as it's literally bleeding edge tech not matured too much people have worries of "burn in", basically static images leaving traces they've been there (really bad for news channels). Back to a similar problem CRT's had.

They cover most of the well known brand monitor, the one you use Zowie XL2740 do not test by them, but they do have review the 25" version - BenQ ZOWIE XL2540 Review - RTINGS.com

Yea, the monitors that interest me right now are the

• MOBIUZ EX3210U

• LG 32GR93U

• ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQXR (aight, not out yet but not on their review pipeline )

Always missing what I'm interested in. Although ASUS recently announed they're having a new 32'' 4k OLED coming in 2024 I might wait.

Yeh I know, but I kinda miss the good old plasma-days when stuff were a bit soft on the edges. Thank god they shoot all the new movies and series with vintage lenses as compensation for us nostalgic plasma- and crt-people
