BitLocker only protects against having your data stolen when your actual device or drive gets stolen. So if someone steals your laptop, they can't just remove the drive and plug it into another system to open up the directory or copy/view any files without the decryption key. This isn't the typical way how people steal data but is good to protect against that anyways if you have the hardware and license to do so. With BitLocker, you can even set it so that Windows only unlocks the drive and boots when a pin/password is keyed in or if USB flash drive with the startup key protector is inserted.

The best way to keep your data safe while online is smart browsing which includes not going to dodgy websites and being smart about the stuff you're downloading and running on your computer.

its my main email that gets the notifications,  i have a few emails for recovery ect. but they all have 2fa ect.  im just trying to buff security because everyones getting hacked lately.

an example my spotifys email was changed yesterday and recovered the account signed everyone out.
I had an easy password to guess, but lets say they downloaded my data what are some ways to protect myself?
I had spotify for years before this happened.

May I recommend investing in a good quality Password Manager? It would allow you to have like a 100+ character randomized password so password guessing is basically impossible.

As to your downloading data question, short answer is recovering your account and changing the password ASAP is a great start, same thing with your Email as it means whoever probably wanted your Email too. Also they don't just "download data", that doesn't really happen. Most trustworthy apps have safety measures in place to prevent that.

Keep in mind that I am sometimes wrong, so please correct me if you believe this is the case!

like my norton 360 it has a password manager thing i think,   I've had people try to steal everything connected to my email is the problem.
This started when my steam was brute force hacked resulting in my PC being unusable even after fresh windows installs ect. they tried to take 400$ out of my steam wallet by buying something worth 1 cent and they wanted my csgo knife.

Not to derail OP's original thread, but that sounds like you downloaded or clicked on something malicious, someone "brute forcing" into an account doesn't make your entire OS and parts themselves immediately become unusable. Also, assuming you used one of the "randomly generated" passwords and you made it sizeable (like 50 characters or something) then it's a one in 95^50 (assuming you used special characters and such) percent chance they brute forced it. Assuming that Steam gives a couple chances before locking the account, that means they have 3 or so chances to guess a correct combination of the 95^50 possible characters. It's just doesn't happen.
