2015 15" Macbook Pro doesn't wake up from sleep when keyboard and mouse are plugged into a USB 3.0 hub

My keyboard and mouse is plugged into 2 USB hubs:

  1. USB 3.0 switch that's plugged to...
  2. HDMI KVM switch (with USB 2.0)

My 2015 Macbook Pro has a separate USB hub for itself (not willing to shell out for a Thunderbolt 2 hub).

The only time it wakes up is if I plug the USB from the KVM switch to the Macbook Pro directly.  Doesn't seem to work when I plug it in directly to the switch.

Any ideas why that's the case, and if there's a way to fix it?

Main reason why I have a dedicated switch is because my work M1 Max Macbook Pro doesn't work with my KVM switch's USB 2.0 and I'm very lazy (and found USB 3.0 switch on a deal), and my PC as it's not plugged to the KVM switch, but directly to the monitor via DisplayPort.
