Why we are still using pixel format?

No standardization means more tooling for production, which means higher cost, which means higher sales price. Imagine the amount of mold needed to produce the body parts of the monitor if there's no standard size.

Not to mention it is harder to plan out how much to produce per size, because they are make to stock, not make to order. And the available stock per size would be much lower than they already are now, which isn't good for anyone.

Besides, resolution affects fps output, not % pixel scale (whatever that means), monitor size and resolution is not tied together, there are 14" 1080p and 32" 1080p displays. The fps you get on these 2 monitors with the same computer would be the same, because the resolution is the same.

Occassionaly visits the forum when I have nothing to do at work.

Why there are no custom pixel option? And why monitor sizes have a limited option? (24" 27" 32" etc.) There are should be %100 pixelated 23" 24" 25" 26" 27" 28" 29" monitors. Using limit % pixel scale to increase fps in AAA games etc.

Sorry for bad english.

Mother glass.
Glass is mass manufactured at a set size and you want to waste as little as possible so this is an example of how it works
Learn Display] 31. Mother Glass & Generation

So you see tv sizes change year over year its because of larger and more efficient mother glass leads to different maths to make the most efficient use of the mother glass.

When you deviate away from those sizes, you end up with waste that yes, gets recycled, but recycling glass is energy intensive even with the cleanest of old glass. Its energy that never makes it to a final product.

Basically like explained above. But also as it makes no real useful sense to have displays for each inch. Also none of it makes any difference fps wise.

21", 24", 27", 28", 31", 32", 34", 38", 42" are all common montor sizes nowadays. There has to be something that fits your needs.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Standardization is necessary for any meaningful mass production.
