New Build for a friend [900-1250 euro] 1080P 60FPS+

Go to solution Solved by Slottr,

This is honestly quite overkill for 1080p 60

Budget: So the budget is between 900 and 1250 euro's. He lives in The Netherlands so keep that in mind. The limit is 1250, but we can go a bit above, like 50 euro's above max.

Aim: He wants to play at 1080P at least 60 FPS on medium to high settings. He doesn't play the regular tripple AAA games that require a 3080 to get decent FPS. Games like Warhammer Darktide, Payday (3), Elden ring, Street fighter 6, Warhammer 40k Spacemarine 2 etc. He doesn't want more than 1080P so that should keep the prices down a lot luckily.

Further requirements: He'd like to have solid state storage, but if it really doesn't fit in the budget a HDD would do. He rather have an SSD for OS and another SSD for game storage. Also, he doesn't care about aesthetics, it needs to be functional, good airflow etc, but RGB and looks etc doesn't matter at all to him so we can cut costs on that front as well. Also, I think air cooling would be preferred since the pump is a big point of failure on an AIO.

Why is he upgrading? He has been using a gaming laptop for longtime but it's really bad, he just wants a gaming PC like the old days.

Oh thanks1 That was fast 😮

What about a CPU cooler? and Case fans?  And what about a 4060? I know it's only 8GB VRAM but the DLSS is really going to stretch the use of the PC I feel or no?

The 120mm fan goes inside the back of that case for an exhaust fan.

Why 4060Ti? The 3060Ti for 340EUR or the 6700XT for 360EUR are much better options.

DLSS at 1080P is horrible and shouldn't be used, but if you really want DLSS go with the 3060Ti. FSR and XeSS are options if you go with the 6700XT.

I would have put the 4060 Ti 16GB in that build but it isn't available in the Netherlands until next week.

4060TI, isn't that a bit overkill for a 1080P setup? I honestly don't know. Also, if it's the case that 1080 DLSS is ass than nevermind indeed.

A 4060 should work fine.

That's even worse, a 500 EUR+ GPU that performs only 10% better than one that costs 360.

The 4060 is also bad, the 3060Ti is 10% faster for 20 euros more, and the 6700XT is a bit over 10% faster than the 4060 and has 4GB more VRAM for 40 euros more. The 6650XT is also a better option over the 4060, being less than 10% slower while costing 80 euros less.
