How bad is armoury crate?

Go to solution Solved by GuiltySpark_,

The problem with installing it and why that's bad advice is you never really get rid of it. Asus has bypassed many standard practices for software development with that trash software and it embeds itself extremely far into your system. They've hidden their Armory Crate Uninstall Tool and even that doesn't fully remove all the services it installs.

It serves no purpose and its completely voluntary to install. Simply don't install it, its that simple.

RGB? OpenRGB or Signal works fine. Fan control you can setup in the BIOS.

Wanna buy an am4 asus board but heard a lot of bad things about armoury crate. If I disable it at bios will it still affect my performance?

So it doesn't install unless I want it to?

Nope. Mind what you click on when you boot into the OS. I've never once had any of that type of software forcefully install itself without having to confirm something. (I own an Asus B550i STRIX AM4 board)

Use it to set up your RGB then save the setting and delete it.

Why have something that is eating more resources than it offers as benefits ?

Just because our PCs today can do so much without breaking a sweat is not a reason to allow a bunch of gimmick style apps to be running on our rigs.

Sorry I am a hater of such apps so my bias against them spills over.

But seriously The Armoury Crate ? WTF does it give your PC or its games? Access to extra ammo ? does it have the BFG hiding in there ? Does it have anything at all to do with anything military.......I see it as just junk use it one time to create some settings and delete .....thats how I used icue. set up my Corsair vengeance Dimms and then the app went into the bin.
