New pc build

Kuzco5141

Budget:$800

Country: US

Will be mainly used for video games such as Cod, Fortnite, exc…

Hello, for my birthday I recently got an i7 10700kf, an rtx 4070ti, and 64gbs of ddr4 3600mhz ram. I’m not sure what coolers and psu I have though.

I’ll be planning on playing on a 1440p 144hz monitor.
I would like to know if there’s anything I should upgrade for my build or add to it. I wouldn’t like to spend TOO much money unless necessary.image.thumb.jpg.6ba339d5ece4926eabb0257901647462.jpg

You might want to see what psu you have as in make, model and age.

Did you buy these parts?

10700k is a pretty awful buy nowadays getting absolutely annihilated by the 12600k

4070ti same goes, awful because no vram and a 3090 wouldobliterate it in vram heavy games and higher resolutions

If this is a hand me down then id advise just leaving it as is and just overclocking the cpu to make up for any performance deficit on the cpu side

A 3090 is also so much more expensive.

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).
I'm learning video editing and trying to get some cash as a high school student.
I like F1, my favourite team is Scuderia Ferrari and favourite driver is Charles Leclerc. Favourite track is Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Playing with a 1080p 60hz monitor right now, hoping to upgrade to a 1440p 144hz one soon.

Living in AU and that pisses me off since every event is late at night or early in the morning (almost every F1 race starts around 11 PM AEST time)

You could look for a better cpu like 13600kf or on amd side a 7800x3d which is still a very good CPU for gaming.

Intel:

CPU: Intel Core i5-13600KF 3.5 GHz 14-Core Processor  ($289.99 @ B&H)
Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING B760M-PLUS WIFI D4 Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard  ($179.99 @ Amazon)

AMD:

Something like this assuming your current CPU cooler is decent (from the looks of it it looks like a Deepcool AK620 which is a very good cooler). I would go with the AMD cpu because the 7800x3d performs better than the 13600kf in gaming.

You could also upgrade your GPU to a 7900 XT that performs better than a 4070 ti but I would upgrade the CPU for now since the 4070 ti is perfectly fine for now and the CPU is the component thats going to hold you back the most.

Ah yeah, i have a brand new 4070Ti, what should i get? An out-of-warranty 3090 that under US warranty law would absolutely be hell to RMA if you went past the ebay satisfaction warranty of 1 month.

Stellar one, i understand youre a tweaker and performance is everything but sometimes sacrificing that for peace of mind and reliability is fine. But your point for CPU i pretty much agreed on if OP plays on 1080p and @PcBeExpensive pick with a far cheaper board is going to be my recommendation. At 1440p though? Not so much but on a pretty hard CPU bounded titles and scenarios you can definitely get some lovely performance jump with it. And yeah, PSU is also a consideration in boutique system, most of them cheap out pretty hard on them.

I went for the non X3D version to compress down to the 800 budget with a solid PSU that is still in newegg promo right now. But you can get the 7800X3D with 30$ overbudget.

yeah, I'm absolutely shit when it comes to motherboards. We do need OP to say what PSU they have so we could cancel the $85 out and put in a 7800x3d. I do agree with you though, at 1440p even a 7600 would be sufficient and that would give some money for OP to have a look at some other parts like fans etc.

4070 ti is fine, also agree with what @SorryClaire once it's outside ebays RMA its pain, especially in US. Though you could counter that by just stress testing it like crazy when you get that card. Does that work?

Nah, I didn’t pick the parts since it was a surprise, but do you have any oc guides? I’ve been looking for them for a while or do I just use the intel extreme tuning utility?

Thanks I’ll look into it if I can, also yes I think that is the cooler. One of the main reasons I made this post was due to the terrible frame rates in cod, I do realize my cpu is holding me back but i do also believe the game has terrible optimization since my friend has a 12900k and a 4090 and struggles to even get 130fps. But yeah thanks I’ll for sure look into it and yeah I’m not really planning on upgrading my gpu for a while since I know the 4000 series is still new

I personally stick with static oc

Try 1.35v static vcore with medium llc and set allcore multiplier to 51 or 52

btw what mobo?

Also send some thaiphoon burner pics here, might be able to overclock the rams abit which should help with fps

Yeah, if you have the ak620 thats a beefy cooler and can handle most CPU's. But the AMD CPU list is the way to go.

I have a Z590 UD AC for my mobo, and Im new to overclocking and pc in general since this is my first pc after like 4 years but I’ll try

Forgot to mention that pc was crashing when I raised the ram speed to 3600mhz but I raised the voltage a bit and now it runs fine, I had to go to my bios

Also, I can’t find the llc setting mind showing me where it’s at?

Maybe send a pic of the bios

Send thaiphoon burner screenshot

Without knowing what ram ic ram oc becomes exceedingly difficult or just really time consuming. If you know the ram ic you can search it up and see what kinda speeds ppl are getting, though never pay attention to the slow <4000 ocs as those are irrelevant for actually guaging how good the ic is for clocks

I’ll look into the bios right now, but Thaiphoon burner isn’t working for me. It won’t boot up at all
