Hi all,

Pretty sure the answer is no but is there a case which could improve performance even marginally. I recently built a new rig which is pretty high end but I cheaper out of the case and whilst it does the job, its a little cheap looking.

Thermals are all fine even with quite a lot crammed in but wish I had went for a bigger tower now.

b450 gaming motherboard, ryzen 5900X, RTX 3080

Can anyone recommend a decent spacious case which will allow good air flow? Its not something I ever really give much thought to but I would like the PC to look a little more glamorous!

I specifically bought the Corsair graphite 760t, this case is mahoosive!  I have space for everything I need and a lot more, the airflow in this case is also fantastic! The included front fans move a lot of air and are almost silent.  I have an MSI RTX 4080 Gaming X TRIO in the case and I still have 18cm of space to the front fans!
If temperatures are in check and nothing is thermal throttling then a case will not really improve performance as such, a well ventilated case will keep things a lot more quiet as fans / coolers are suppled with more air.
The Corsair graphite 760t is almost 10 years old at this point but I find nothing wrong with it, Linus absolutely loved it.

air can only do so much... will there be a higher score maybe will you see any gaming benefits probably not. back in the day there would be the new stuff is already oced out the box.  instead of having you oc they just sell a newer gpu...

moeny spent on saving  and if something dies moat likely you want to upgrade any way so mostly for looks and nose.

if you can its normally about 1 or 2 boots bins from what i can tell. people with ln2 only got like a 14% improvement...

I have dyslexia plz be kind to me. dont like my post dont read it or respond thx

Good cooling is a prerequisite to your components to run a design speed  (no throttling etc.). So yes, a good case impacts potential performance positively. But once components are below throttling temp, more cooling doesn't increase speed. It increases life and gives more spare capacity (summer when your room is warmer etc.)

Consider all components inc VRM, RAM, SSD. Not just CPU and GPU. An airflow case like the Torrent will greatly improve all component cooling.

Indeed. And who wants to dial back their overclock just because its summer? That would be lame.

You can try "go fast" stickers like you put on a Civic.  You can do that with any case.  Instant +10GHz.

This post has been ninja-edited while you weren't looking.

I'm a used parts bottom feeder.  Your loss is my gain.

I like people who tell good RGB jokes.

I don't know if you can translate it to PCs. But for cars red is the fastest color. So maybe paint the case in varying colors and measure which is fastest.

But what really speeds up a case is glass panel and RGB all over. And modded cables. This actually is a true fact. How else could you explain people spending all the money on that?

Or get an old case with the "turbo" button. Maybe those got outlawed due to speed limit laws.

depends entirely on OP's budget, generally i do prefer more airflow focus ones

I choose a basic case as I have  no interest in RGB although I am pretty sure the case was smaller than advertised but due to circumstances out of my control I was stuck with it (Amazon delivery cockup). Shame as a few days later the case I wanted turned up but I wasn't rehoming it again!

I probably will get a better case at some point but not any time soon. Although it looks a bit basic, the thermals are pretty good and The front and rear IO is pretty good for a cheaper case. There was enough space for everything and the 4080 is not cramped so I am happy.

Should I ever sell it in the future then a new case may be required as if someone looked at my rig with a £2000+ price tag in store they would probably think they were being ripped off! Could have spend an extra £100 on a fancy case but would rather put it towards my next upgrade which I hope won't be for a while!
