GIgabyte AB350M-HD3

Go to solution Solved by mariushm,

Depending on the RAM chips, it may not even work at 3200 Mhz, you may have to set it to 3000 Mhz or 2933 Mhz.

You're talking about a B350 motherboard, one of the first motherboards on a new platform (socket AM4) so it took some time for them to learn about how to route traces between cpu socket and memory slots, to put traces on various layers to get better frequencies and fewer transmission errors and so on.

Keep in mind also that you need almost the very latest bios to support 5800x, and keep in mind that 5800x is a 105w TDP cpu and the board's VRM is not that great, it's only a 4 phase VRM without any heatsink.

I would go as far as suggesting to place some of those VGA/RAM heatsinks at the very least on the low side mosfets to keep them cooler. It's the ones in the red rectangle.  The high side mosfets in yellow won't be as "stressed" as the low-side ones but if you have extra heatsinks it wouldn't hurt to heatsink those as well

(clean the tops well with isopropyl alcohol, acetone, sanitary alcohol, dry it out, then peel that blue sticker and apply the heatsinks on the chips, pressing gently for around 10-20seconds for them to stick.

I was wondering if anyone knows if this motherboard has support for wireless controllers, specifically the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller?

On the specifications sheet for this motherboard, it says that it supports ddr4 3200. If I wanted to buy ddr4 3600 with a 5800x, would it still be supported at this speed because I have a newer gen cpu than the ryzen 1000, 2000, and 3000 series chips?

should be fine.

worst case you might have to set the speed to 3200.

Most ryzen 5000 chips can do 3600+ but your board may limit you to 3000-3200 depending on the quality of the board and ram you are using.
