Hey guys,

I have an R9 270x as an entry card. (Got it free.)
Now im wondering what cpu would give me a great performance for cpu intensive games (Dota, DayZ,etc)
I currently have mobos from both companies but being AM3+ for amd and LGA1155 for Intel.
My maximum budget right now is around the low 200's. (Im a student with a "ehh" job.)

So im asking you guys, what experiences have you had with the cpus in the price range?
Which gave the absolute best performance for these cpu intensive games that are just so very addicting.. haha

Thanks! 1<3

You could always get a 8320/8350, my preference would be to get a cheap 1150 mobo and get a 4670k or a Xeon e3-1230v3 which is just like a 4670k but little cheaper I think, an it doesn't OC as good because it's Xeon!

Emmh... Maybe consider killing yourself before you talk to me?

Meh it doesn't hyper thread so I'd say it's like a 4670 because difference between 4670 and 4770 is nothing except hyper threading :P

Get the FX 8350 Black Edition, I think that's the one with the water-cooler if not look for that, and overclock the sh*t out of it.

Intel I5 K. It has nothing to do with not bottlenecking the GPU. It has to do with those games being optimized for 1-2 cores and playing at the same low FPS at 1024*768 as 1080p.

If your question was what is the best deal chip to play new console port shooters and single player games? AMD 8320 or 6300fx on an OC could be an acceptable answer.

I7 will do nothing for you in those games and most games. R9 270? Fantastic GPU in that price bracket and quite a bit more powerful than PS4. Looking at like 2.7 TFLOPS on the X compared to like 1.84 on the PS4 and 1.31 on the Xbox One.

Anyways have fun with the PC. :) Should be good to go for years at 1080p.

Case: HAF 912 stock fans (no LED crap). HD: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB. Display: Dell S2340M IPS. GPU: Sapphire Tri-x R9 290. PSU:CX600M OS: Win 7 64 bit/Mac OS X Mavericks, dual boot Hackintosh.

For 200$ you can get this:http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i5-3570-Quad-Core-Processor-Cache/dp/B0083U94D8/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1399821954&sr=8-7&keywords=i5+1155

& it can spank 8350 & force it cry in corner!

Seriously don't get AMD. They use obsolete architecture, is more hot & can't even beat i3. That i5 will max out your games with your current GPU.

Buy a 3rd Gen Intel i5.  Intel flat out dominates AMD when it comes to gaming.

Get a 3570/3570K, or an 8320/aftermarket heatsink and OC the balls off of it if you can't find one cheap enough.
