Just build new pc and installed windows 10 pro, but I can not connect to any internet source and I my gpu is not showing in display adapters

Hey!

I think I have a problem, I just build my new gaming pc, updated the bios with a usb flash drive and than installed windows 10 pro.

I am in my pc now on the windows desktop. The problem is that I am unable to connect to any internet source (LAN or Wifi), also there is nothing showing in the “change adapter settings” either. I can’t see my gpu anywhere either, not in the “display adapters” nowhere.

I am 100% sure all cables are connected properly. The gpu rgb’s light up and the fans spin for a short time when turning on the pc, but stop spinning after a couple of seconds. The gpu does seem to get very hot and not any fans will spin.

When in de bios my mouse will move very strangely and when on the windows desktop it feels like 30 fps even though my monitor is 144Hz.

I have tested the gpu before in a friends built and it worked fine.

does anyone have a solution to my problem, it would really mean a lot. Been trying for almost 2 days now, and I just want to have some good quality gaming experience haha.

thanks for the effort! 🙂

A complete list of system specifications / parts would be REALLY useful.

Are you getting any picture on your monitor?

Did you plug your monitor cable into the back of the motherboard, or into the back of the graphics card?

Since you are able to SEE the BIOS menu...

LAN or WiFi part can be a little funky.

Windows should detect drivers, or at least use the generic drivers, so you can at least connect to the internet.

However, I did run into this issue when I first put together my AMD AM4 build.

I had to run the Windows troubleshooter...and then LAN started working.

Once you get the network drivers installed, things will be a bit easier. Whenever I come across this, this is what I would do:

  • Go to motherboard drivers page on another PC and download the LAN/WLAN drivers for your motherboard.
  • Put on flash drive to get it onto the new PC and install the drivers.
  • Once your new build can get online, proceed to download any other drivers such as graphics drivers, chipset, audio, etc

First time building a PC is always the toughest, but congrats on making it this far! Unfortunately Windows will never automatically have all the drivers you need which is why you will need to download/manually install what you need for your build.

Looks like you have the ROG STRIX Z790-A motherboard, so I would go here to download the LAN and Wireless drivers: https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z790-a-gaming-wifi-model/helpdesk_download/

Use a different computer to download, put on flash drive, then move to the new PC and install. After that your network should work so you can get online and download more drivers such as the chipset driver, audio drivers, etc.

For your GeForce drivers I suggest downloading GeForce experience which will allow you to download/install the correct GPU drivers automatically.

Is the LAN port enabled in the BIOS?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
