Hello,

Im maxime_vhw and i would like to get back into pc gaming :)

Pc is also needed for some rendering :)

-case: cooler master haf x / a case that im modding(no specs on case, its old) / or to go hardcore a corsair 900D for watercooling :)

-power supply: corsair AX750

-motherboard: Asus maximus V formula

-cpu: intel I7- 3770K

-cpu cooler: At first stock cooler, until i have the watercooling parts :)

-Ram: Corsair Dominator Platinum 2x8Gb (so that i can upgrade if ever needed...)

-SSD: Crucial M4 256Gb

-HDD: WD Caviar Green WD20EARX

-blu-ray/dvd: LG BH10LS38 Super Multi Blue

-OS: Microsoft Windows 8 Pro

-Graphics card: I really can't choose... everyone tells me to go with gtx680 while i would like gtx690...

Because the formula limits me to run only 2cards...

If i would go with 2x gtx680 i would have 2gpu's...

But if i would go with 2x gtx690 i would have 4gpu's...

So in my opinion i would get more fps with gtx690's

And im not planing on buying a maximus V extreme, because that would cost me 250 euro more...

Because it costs 100euro more and you have to buy a soundcard...

No, im not a spoiled little fag or something.

I'm just a pc geek :)

I work for the money, my mom doesnt give me any money. (parents broke up, i live with my mom)

And btw happy newyear :)

What is your monitor setup? GTX 680 will eat anything on a single monitor let alone 2x GTX 680. In that case 2x GTX 690 would be $1000 spent on nothing.

Games are not RAM intensive so you will never need 16GB let alone 32... I'd go with 2x4GB and upgrade to 4x4GB later if you ever need it...

And with dual 690s you would probably want to get like an AX1200i or something :P

I'll start with a benQ 2420T or any other +120Hz monitor, so i would need 120fps on a game such as bf3 on ultra settings.

And then i will buy a second monitor (touchscreen) to watch facebook, skype, this forum during loading of games, servers, etc

I'll go with the 16Gb anyway because of rendering :)

I was planing on a AX1200i but i dont know wich graphics card config to pick so... i dont know the power...

Ya, if you go SLI/CrossFireX, or just a dual GPU card, you will need a bigger PSU. Other than that, its a pretty boss rig, though your SSD isn't the best, I would suggest the OCZ vector, or the Samsung 840 Pro. Though you might also want to check out the ROG RAIDR when it comes out in the next months. (

If he's an enthusiast then I say go big. Get a larger psu and get two 690s bc why not. If you're looking to cut your budget a bit to other things then maybe a 680 and that psu will be fine.

- Any reason you're going for Caviar Green over Caviar Red?

- What speed of RAM?

It'd help if you could nail down what this rig was for. Initially you mention gaming, but later on you mention rendering and you also say you're an enthusiast (which to me means either extreme overclocking and benching, or extravagance for the sake of extravagance).

Dominator Platinum is more than enough as far as RAM goes.

As for the drive, why get a Red? I could see a Black, or a Velociraptor, but even that is a bit overkill.

The price of WD Red is typically the same as or within $10 of the Green. It's quieter, it has lower power consumption and I believe the 2 and 3 TB are faster. The question is more "why not?"

As for the RAM, I asked what speed it was, I didn't tell him to get anything faster.

-Not into the HDD market so randomly chose a drive :)

-Its 1600Mhz ram.

i think ill go with a 128Gb version of one of those because 256Gb version= A Bit expensive for just data...

OCZ vs samsung? wich one would you pick? they are the same price so...

the M4 is no faster than the average HDD so id upgrade that to a Samsung 840 PRO or OCZ Vector (the 2 best SSD's right now) Green drives perform worse than most drives and typically die faster get a Caviar Blue/Black or a Seagate Barracuda

Id go for cheaper RAM there is no need to spend so much on it it nets you no more performance (Dominator is great for OCing but otherwise no better than any other kit) and unless you do heavy rendering 16GB will grant no gain in performance over 8GB

Also again unless you do heavy rendering or other multi threaded tasks a 3570K will grant the same performance in gaming while maintaining good multi threaded performance

The mobo is a little overkill unless you get it cheap however it is an amazing board

PSU id good AX760 (non i) is typically around the same price though

as for the GPU id suggest a Radeon HD 7970 from Asus, Gigabyte, MSI or Sapphire unless you want PhysX (no impact most of the time) or use CUDA

give a man a gun he robs a bank, give a man a bank he robs the world

Seriously. Real-world performance will barely be distinguishable from the Vector/840 pro. This time last year the m4 sat alongside the Samsung 830 as the best buy for an SSD.

http://tweakers.net/reviews/2773/5/samsung-840-250gb-iets-minder-snel-realworld-benchmarks.html I know its in dutch but here are some realworld bechmarks test and the m4 and 840 perform equally

If your going for the most ridiculous build possible which has been my impression so far, make sure you get a bigger PSU!, Seriously like a 1000w or something.
By ridiculous I'm really meaning amazingly powerful. 3770 and 2x 680s is not a typical gaming pc, it's a gaming power house. You will be able to hit ultra now and a few generations beyond. I wasn't discrediting your built infant the exact opposite. But you will need a 1000 watt power supply. From my previous research on dual 580 I concluded a 1000 watt would be perfect and the 680s shouldn't be far off, especially factoring in water cooling.
