DSC/MST Confusion, 4k 144hz display doesn't work through MST hub that supposedly supports 4k 144hz/DSC

So I am trying to connect 2 displays to one DP port using a MST hub,

The hub I have (link) claims to be able to do 4k 144hz and says it supports DP 1.4 w/ DSC.

However if I connect my monitor (Gigabyte M32U, 4k 144hz) it maxes out at 60Hz. That would lead me to think it could be falling back to DP 1.2 for some reason. Connecting it directly to the GPU with the same DP cable works fine (4k 144hz).

What's weird is if I connect it to my CG437K (4k 120hz w/o DSC) it does 120hz but connecting any other displays causes it to max out at 60Hz (because there's no DSC I assume, so 4k120 takes basically all the bandwidth of DP 1.4).

Any idea why? I've tried 2 systems (3080 XGm/2080S) and many cables with the same results.... I assume it's the MST hub however it's got pretty positive reviews and claims it can do this exact thing....

why no dark mode?

It doesn't say that tho.

It says 4k@60hz and then it says 144hz and 240hz support.

It never said it would do 4k at 144hz.

They got you with using punctuation.

The images are well typical for these bs products not to be held accountable.

Either way the numbers in the screenshots aren't even achievable.

So basically this is a false product.

Already edited my reply as I submitted early by accident.

The problem here is that their written explanation and images are saying 2 different things which is normal for these generic hubs. I wouldn't be surprised if this thing doesn't even support dsc natively because they forgot to use a dsc cable that goes to the hub.

What further proves it is that your pc does do 144hz.

Unless the cable you have is not dsc compatible then their is your problem.

DP1.4 with DSC can do even 4K 240Hz without issue, including 144Hz obviously. DP1.4 natively can do 4K 120Hz like people have shown already, so it seems like you're not getting DP1.4 from the hub.

I think you're operating on the edge of compatibility where you'd either need to simplify the setup to get the features like 4K 144Hz, or spend substantially more for a niche product.

Yeah, I was hoping to connect 2 DP monitors to the XGm and Asus in their infinite wisdom only has 1 DP and 1 HDMI on the XGm for some reason.

Just a little annoyed that the hub claims to do exactly what I need and just doesn't....

There are no "DSC cables". DSC has no dependency on anything in the cable.
