Powering new GPU

Hello fine ladies and gents,

I have a question regarding powering my new GPU (ASRock AMD Radeon™ RX 6950 XT

Phantom Gaming 16GB OC). The manual is unclear so I'd like to ask: how do I connect this to the power supply, if that's possible with the amount of connections needed? I presume I need three seperate 8 pin PCIe's or can it also be plugged into the SATA ones?

Thanks in advance for the help!

DON't plug it into the sata ports of the psu. Those only give a very small amount of power each (under 50 watts i think) Yes you need to plug three pcie power connectors into the psu side and into the gpu

Message me on discord (bread8669) for more help

Alrighty, that means this power supply won't fit with the card then, is that correct?

You can't use the SATA cables they have only 6 pin... Use the ones with 8 pins, all 3 if possible though it should work with 2 and the pigtails double connectors, up to 400w on a good PSU

It will work fine. You don't need 3 separate cables for this card most likely. Just use the second connecter on one of the pcie cables

deffidently DO NOT plug them into this image.png.06aab0f4198c497783555c2041616a06.png

The PSU is an 850 w PSU, I do have the cables (the ones labelled PciE, right?) What I meant by the PSU not fitting is the fact that there's only two PcIE ports on the PSU other then the one required for the CPU. I'm honestly not that knowledgeable so correct me if I'm wrong.

Didnt know that was a possiblity, so you're saying that I can just use two connectors on one cable?

There's 5 8pin connectors, 2 for the CPU (usually 1 is enough anyway) then 3 remain 😀

I have the same PSU and it powers my hungry 7900xtx without any issues
