How can I cool this better

Go to solution Solved by AlwaysFSX,

So here's a reply that will actually be helpful.

You need a contact frame, the Intel loading mechanism is trash for LGA1700 and the 13600k runs hot as hell no matter what cooler you put on it, I also just got one and it runs very hot with a Noctua cooler.

no not really thermal throttles after about 5 minutes

I hit 700W on an i5 with a NHD15

Also I'm 14 so please just confirm anything I say with someone more experienced

Gee, and I posted about why it does that.

@Bob__get a contact frame (GN has reviewed them) and you'll knock quite a few degrees off your temps and stabilize clocks better. That's your solution, not throwing more cooler at the cpu right off the bat.

Right, so a 360mm (as I said previously) and then add a GPU so you can turn off the iGPU which will allow the CPU to OC a tiny bit higher since it's not wasting on the iGPU.

I am maxxing all your options here.  AIO allows more OC, turning off iGPU allows more OC.

Balls to the balls!

Why tho the GPU is basically dead weight I dont game also sorry for the typo

It's really the only solution to 13th gen's heat. You can go for a 560mm water cooler but you'll still end up running in to heat issues because of how poorly the heat spread can move heat to your cooler.

The NH-D15 is a fantastic cooler, the problem is the Intel Loading Mechanism.

what is 560 mm bro do u mean 360 mm

you dont need an aio for anything but i9 cpus or heavy oc jobs just get an nh-d15 or peerless assassin

Off to Google we go!

560mm radiators exist.

Not worth it, just spend the $5 and get a contact frame.

In the order of things that you should try to improve temps it's:
Contact frame > lapping the IHS > replacing the IHS (but if you're going this far...) > direct die cooling

Anything extreme like this for cooling shouldn't be done unless you really know what you're doing.

Yeah there's a lot more to cooling than just throwing an aio at a part.

If you think the NH-D15 can beat a 360mm from Arctic, you may be incorrect.

lol also yeah this thing is a beast but ive seen marginally better from big ass AIOs but the solution from what I can see is just a custom loop and a contact frame and some other shit that normally should not have to be done. THANKS INTEL

So why would you comment like that, that the NH-D15 is as good as water coolers, implying that the 360mm I suggested was a bad idea and that the NH-D15 is as good as a 360mm AIO.

The 360mm, which I suggested a few, are infact better than (a good bit better) the NH-D15.  Deepcool, Arctic, and EK all make 360's that are better than any air cooler, even with upgraded Noctua fans.

And yes, PROPER case airflow, a 360mm AIO.... AND... a contact frame (per your suggestion) are all ways to improve your cooling of said CPU.

Problem with this is it makes out the D15 like it's incapable of cooling 13th gen.

It's perfectly capable of it, the problem isn't the cooler.
