Firefox maxing out one of my gpus?

Go to solution Solved by flibberdipper,

Hardware acceleration, more than likely.

Hey forum!

Need some help to understand this issue or bug with Firefox, or just Firefox based browsers.

Everytime i open my firefox based browser (Commodo IceDragon), one of my gpus on my HD 7990 (specifically gpu #2) suddenly kicks in to high gear. 99% usage according to afterburner, and i can confirm it by the little LED on the back of the HD 7990 card that the second gpu is running.

Usually dont use Google Chrome, like Firefox / Firefox based browsers better.

Note: its nothing wrong with Commodos firefox based browser, IceDragon. I tried the regular firefox browser. same bug/issue.

Here running a chromium based browser Commodo Dragon. Uses same sorce coding as Google Chrome

Here running Firefox.

Firefox is up to date, Catalyst driver is the newest, and BIOS is also up to date.

Specs:

cpu: i7-3770K

mobo: Gigabyte z77x-up7

ram: 16GB of crucial memory running at 1600Mhz

gpu(s): Radeon HD 7990

psu: Cooler Master silentpro M2 1000w psu

Why is this an issue? well its unnecessary, that one of the gpus are maxed out, when im browsing, and it is consuming  unnecessary power too.

Any ideas guys???

I haven't used firefox in a while, but I understand there is hardware acceleration that can be disabled.

Install AdBlock Plus and NoScript and see if it helps.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.
