Laptop performs worse when plugged in - 6900hs lenovo yoga slim 7 pro x

PointFive

So I just bought this laptop today and found something a bit weird.

When plugged in, cpu utilization is maxed at 70% and is at around 2,2 - 2,3ghz. Temps was at 60 - 65C, and the fans were barely spinning.
When on battery it immediately increased the utilization to 100% and the clockspeeds to 3,3ghz. The fans then ramped up and temps rose to 80C.

Idk why this is happening.. The laptop should be in performance mode. I have updated everything, Windows, BIOS, drivers, etc. I have restarted it and so on.

What you should actually do is run a benchmark on and off battery to see which actually performs better. Do not trust Task Manager to give you an accurate idea of how your machine is performing. Lenovo set a custom performance curve, the default of which is worse performance on battery and better on the wall, it would never be the inverse. They are only identical on Macs and a few thin and lights.

If the machine does perform worse when plugged into power, reset the power plans to their default settings.
