SSH to a PC without GPU

Hi! I do have an old pc with this components:
CPU: AMD FX-8320

RAM: 8GB ddr3 (do not remember frequency)
MOBO: Gigabyte 970A-UD3P

PSU: 450W (do not remember its brand)
Anyway, the gpu is missing and i wanna use this as nas/webserver... Can i connect to it via SSH?

 

EDIT: i know that the cpu hasn't the iGPU

Why not test it? Install the os, then remove the gpu and see if you can still access it.

Maybe? Some boards support headless operation, some don't, and I haven't tried that board to see if it does or not. Most Gigabyte boards I've used have had support for it, but that's not definitive either way. No matter what you'd need to borrow a GPU to get it setup.

Ssh doesn't require a gpu since its shell only (I've used without a gpu before) so long as u have Linux on there, not sure u can do ssh with windows, to use vnc or some form where u access thru gui then no

Well that is true BUT some boards (especially old intel boards from what I am seeing) will not post without a graphics card present.

Oh yeah, never thought of that. I'm used to using dedicated servers

you want to make sure 'halt on post error' or similar is disabled. it's  a given that the board will give a vga error on boot, the question is if it'll continue to boot or not.

Okay guys, good news, the system post and vnc works fine without the gpu! I was lucky to have installed tightVNC long ago...

Anyway i do need to reset it and install a linux distro on it... Any disstro for headless system with enabled ssh/vnc? There is raspbian that can enable ssh and vnc after microSD flash

You could just take out the disk from that machine, plug it into another machine, install linux there, then plug back in the fx system.
